We had a couple of cool firsts while fishing the flats of Sarasota, FL in the last few days. On Friday, Jim Tansey, from the Chicago area, caught his first snook and it was a good one. He was using a green Aquadream ADL series spoon; one of the hottest baits out there right now. He hooked the fish in very shallow water and we were all treated to a spectacular show as the big fish raged through air and water, working hard to dislodge the hook or wear through the leader. Great fish Jim!

On Sunday, I was able to take my son Levi on a long overdue fishing trip. I’ve been busy running trips and he’s been busy with school and soccer. It’s special to spend time on the water with your child, creating memories and enjoying nature. It was a short trip, so we used artificial bait only. He’s still learning the nuances of using artificials, but he ended up catching a redfish on a Mirrolure Lil John. It was the first redfish that Levi has caught without the aid of live bait. Good job buddy!

See you on the water soon!
